'Why does one read? ' is a thought that sometimes I ponder about. Its obvious , some may read to spend time while traveling, some may read to kill the boredom of monotonous life, some may read to enhance their knowledge and some may read to have a topic to discuss with colleagues at office.
Some may even read under peer pressure. For instance, Chetan Bhaghat 's books. Though they are not heavy with thought provoking contents ,whole India seems to have read them. One is sure to get stares if he makes a statement in public that he has not read Chetan Bhagat's books
However ,I strongly feel -reading is an art. Its not something that cannot be developed overnight. Its a habit to be cultivated from childhood. Not everyone enjoys reading. Its a gift which only few are bestowed with.
But,I recently saw one of my friend who was not much of a reader sitting with a fat novel. I was surprised and when I enquired , she innocently replied that her boyfriend had enjoyed the book.
I felt happy for the boy. He is one among the lucky ones in the world. His gal was taking so much efforts to understand him, understand what thought process he might have been through while reading the book. She was reading to get the same feel he got when he read the book ,which would eventually help them in connecting better. It will give them a topic to discuss. An opportunity to understand each others line of thinking.
If she could put so much efforts to impress him. Then, its sure that she will compromise and will forgive easily after the usual couple fights.Hence,I got a strong feeling that this love will last long .
Its truly amazing to see how love could be the reason for reading. A LOVE different from LOVE for books.
